Archive listing Happy Birthday to mePosted in 'General' on December 1, 2008, 12:11 am Well today marks Twinkle Lily's anniversary of being open 1 year!
Can't believe I've made it, it's certainly been a really good year and
2009 will be even better with lots more planned.
I have a special planned for each week of December, week 1 is 15% off all items.
Little Innoscents organic baby skincare range has also gone live,
I've had a smell of everything and they are just devine! You can check
them out at http://www.twinklelily.com/index.php?mod=Shop&file=Index&cat=4 Coming soon are our Organic Side Snapping Wool Covers, not sure on release date as they are in testing phase.
They are divine to the touch, I've never felt wool so soft and beautiful.
Caring for your nappiesPosted in 'General' on December 4, 2008, 12:14 am Caring for your cloth nappies
I always assume washing modern cloth nappies will come easy to people but I have
been doing the modern cloth nappy thing for over 3 years now and it's become
second nature for me.
I'd say a good 90% of people still don't know or haven't heard about
modern cloth nappies and would see it as hard and/or extra work with soaking
and bleaching.
You will be surprised that today's modern cloth nappies ( I call
them new generation nappies) do not need to be soaked, definitely do
not need to be bleached and in fact uses 1/2 to 1/4 scoop of your normal detergent
(much less than a normal load).
The method used is called "dry pail". To put simply once cloth nappy is
soiled (solid matter roll/scrape into toilet) and place in a bucket or
pail.
Once you are have a reasonable amount of cloth nappies that need washing,
just place into your washing machine, add the specified amount of
detergent (1/2-1/4 scoop of your normal full load) and turn the machine
on!
To keep your nappies lasting/looking newer it is always best to line
dry, however in our current Melbourne (and other countries/states)
climate it isn't always possible to have them dry in time. You will
find you can do the occasional tumble dry on a very low-medium heat
setting. Unfortunately I am known for my love of my tumble dryer and have used my dryer consistently in winter weather without any issues.
For more information you can visit my wash and care page on my site Wash and Care Instructions
A handy tip: Always try and wash no later than 2 days,
especially when you have teething babies. Around teething, urine can
become slightly more acidic than normal and if left to soak into the
nappy booster may "eat" into it. To eliminate odours try Pail Powders
Lookey Here - GWTF!Posted in 'New Products' on December 5, 2008, 12:15 am I am just bursting with excitement!
I have come across these fabulous reusable cloth menstrual pads in the US. These reusable menstrual pads popped
up here and there around some forums and although I thought they looked
superb, I didn't think of even trying to retail a different brand other
than my own.
But you know, ClothPadShop is the one stop shop for menstrual pads
and I personally would like to see the store retail/manufacture the
most cloth pads in the world on the one site.

And I'll be the only retailer in Australia!!!
Anne who runs
Go with the Flo is absolutely fabulous to deal with and I look forward
to sharing these wonderful professionally made reusable cloth pads with you!

That said, I will still be hard at work! My new cloth nappies are
coming out some time in January and I hope to make it on the day we
re-open.
These are stunning nappies, all overlocked with maxilock swirls in a gorgeous array of prints.
They are fitted in 3 different sizes, S, M and L.
Our original design is still with us and not going anywhere, the
only changes there are we are adding a 3 different size system ie, S, M
and L and the hard work of sewing will be contracted out to a local
seamstress.
Plus our pads are having a facelift! We've gotten some excellent
feedback on our new smallsies and biggsies, they have a slightly longer
wingspan so giving you a slightly wider crotch offering more protection.
Merry Christmas to everyone and a Very Happy New Year
Warmest wishes
Katerina
